TS Debriefing (from a TS Squad member’s perspective)

First Harbor Assault, as the TS part of the GoD fleet, assault on KM Harbor. Saturday, August 28, 2010.

Task : Distracting force

Objective : to tie down a segment of RedSky’s main fleet, and make the job easier for the GoD main fleet.

Strong Points : We were able to prevent many ships from aiding the main fleet. Fighting several larger ships, hurting, destroying, and making them run. We were able to communicate adequately, point out threats, targets, and other important parts of battle. We also had a good numerical showing.

Weak Points : We did not have many large and stronger ships, there was some unnecessary chatter on the Team-Speak, there was a lack of both overall strategic planning and battle strategic planning .

Suggestions :

As far as larger ships go, time will solve that issue. However, care should be taken to continue making quality ships and crews.

There was a little bit of chatter on Team-Speak, but nothing major. Just a bit more control in the future, however TS did much better at that then expected.

Lack of control in the overall strategic planning is not our department, even though we suffer from it. We realistically cannot have a major effect on the choices that the Fleet High Command makes.

A lack of guided battle plans was an issue, clumping on one side had some benefits and some drawbacks, and other strategies could have help. However, our commander did a really great job with a really short notice of his position. Our low amount of ships also limited what we could do. Hopefully we can get more notice of who is leading us next time, I assumed our Squad Leader Pred would have, but Fleet Command had other ideas.

Personal Comments : I have not been with TS for very long, and my rank is the lowest, but I do play another game, Mount and Blade, where I am an officer. We regularly do large battles, requiring lots of co-ordination. Our squad co-coordination was great, especially for a group that did a large event, for the first time, with no training. A bit more work is needed, however, and that should be remembered. TS truly did a great job on this harbor assault, and hopefully the next time we will do a better job of it, even though we preformed our task admirably.

TS is unused to this kind of combat, but a debriefing is common after one of these to analyze what happened, and how things can be improved.
